Jak co roku organizatorzy szukają ciekawych pomysłów na artystyczne instalacje. Nabór projektów potrwa do 3 maja 2023 roku. Bella Skyway Festival rozświetli Toruń blaskiem artystycznych instalacji już po raz czternasty. Między 15 a 19 sierpnia 2023 roku toruński Zespół Staromiejski ponownie zamieni się w magiczną, pełną światła przestrzeń, w której torunianie i odwiedzający miasto turyści na chwilę zapomną o rzeczywistości. Co roku jest to zasługą interesujących prac przygotowanych przez artystów z całego świata – także tych wyłonionych w ramach otwartego naboru projektów. W poprzednich latach takie nabory cieszyły się dużym zainteresowaniem międzynarodowych twórców. Swoje instalacje zgłosili artyści między innymi z Finlandii, Japonii, Australii, Izraela czy… Tajlandii i Singapuru.

W ramach naboru do 14. edycji festiwalu  artyści, którzy specjalizują się w sztukach wizualnych i w swoich realizacjach wykorzystują światło mogą zgłaszać swoje projekty do 3 maja 2023 roku. Open call jest kierowany nie tylko do doświadczonych artystów, ale też do tych, którzy dopiero zaczynają swoją przygodę ze światłem, świetlnymi instalacjami i projekcjami wielkoformatowymi. Ich zadaniem jest kreatywne odczytanie motywu wydarzenia, który w tym roku brzmi: „Marzyciele z zielonej planety”.

Jak mówi Krystian Kubjaczyk, dyrektor festiwalu:

Rok 2023 został ogłoszony Rokiem Mikołaja Kopernika, dlatego ku pamięci wielkiego astronoma, najsłynniejszego Torunianina, chcemy pokazać, że warto czasem spojrzeć w gwiazdy. Marzyciele, którzy nie zapomnieli jak korzystać z dziecięcej wyobraźni zmieniają naszą codzienność oraz planetę. Stąd na festiwalu także istotny wątek ekologiczny. Tak jak natura inspiruje ludzi przy tworzeniu wynalazków, tak cuda współczesnej inżynierii mogą wspierać zachowanie i rozwój otaczającej Nas przyrody.

Zgodnie z tegorocznym motywem przewodnim festiwalu podczas wyboru prac szczególną uwagę Organizatorzy poświęcą instalacjom, które wpisują się w idee kopernikańską oraz ekologii i dbania o środowisko. Ich szczególne zainteresowanie wzbudzą instalacje, które będą wpływać na ograniczenie śladu węglowego, wykorzystanie materiałów z recyklingu lub zastosowanie rozwiązań pozwalających na ograniczenie zużycia energii, np.  instalacje, które wykorzystują światło odbite czy energię w całości lub częściowo pozyskaną z baterii solarnych lub innych odnawialnych źródeł.

Wielkoformatowe projekcje, zachwycające mappingi 3D, instalacje rozsiane w różnych zakątkach toruńskiego Zespołu Staromiejskiego – co roku przekrój proponowanych przez artystów pomysłów jest duży i ciekawy. Liczymy, że w tym roku będzie tak samo! – dodaje Krystian Kubjaczyk.

This year’s edition of the Bella Skyway Festival in Toruń will be a return to the pre-pandemic formula, i.e. the much-liked, open festival, encouraging to walk freely around the Old Town Complex of Toruń and discover its charms. As every year, the organizers are looking for interesting ideas for artistic installations. The call for projects will last until May 3, 2023. In accordance with this year’s leitmotiv of the festival, during the selection of works, special attention will be paid to installations that are in line with the Copernican idea, as well as ecology and care for the environment.

 Bella Skyway Festival will illuminate Toruń with the splendor of artistic installations for the fourteenth time.

Between August 15 and 19, 2023, the Old Town Complex in Toruń will again turn into a magical, light-filled space where Toruń residents and tourists visiting the city will forget about reality for a while. Every year, this is due to interesting works prepared by artists from all over the world – including those selected as part of an open call for projects. In previous years, such calls enjoyed great interest from international artists. Artists from Finland, Japan, Australia, Israel and… Thailand and Singapore submitted their installations.

As part of the open call for the 14th edition of the festival, artists who specialize in visual arts and use light in their projects can submit their projects until May 3, 2023.

Open call is addressed not only to experienced artists, but also to those who are just starting their adventure with light, light installations and large format projections. Their task is to creatively read the theme of the event, which this year is: „Dreamers from a green planet”.

Krystian Kubjaczyk, director of the festival, says:

The year 2023 has been announced as the Year of Nicolaus Copernicus, so in memory of the great astronomer, the most famous citizen of Toruń, we want to show that sometimes it is worth looking at the stars.

Dreamers who have not forgotten how to use children’s imagination change our everyday life and the planet. Hence, the festival also has an important ecological theme. Just as nature inspires people to create inventions, the wonders of modern engineering can support the preservation and development of the nature around us.

In accordance with this year’s leitmotiv of the festival, during the selection of works, the Organizers will pay special attention to installations that are in line with the Copernican idea, as well as ecology and care for the environment.

They will be particularly interested in installations that will reduce the carbon footprint, use recycled materials or use solutions that reduce energy consumption, e.g. installations that use reflected light or energy obtained in whole or in part from solar batteries or other renewable sources. Large-format projections, stunning 3D mappings, installations scattered in various corners of the Old Town Complex in Toruń – every year the cross-section of ideas proposed by artists is large and interesting.
